Dance Performance: Smart Summer (dress rehearsal)

The Latvian school youth dancer community is rich with more than 25,000 dancers, so the Song and Dance Festival will be an opportunity to dance a creative, modern story about the summer holidays of five young people in different locations: the countryside, the forest, the sea, the city and abroad.

Separated each in their own environment, the young people are united by smart devices which enable them to share their experiences and conclusions, but, step by step, it is revealed that a Smart Summer has little in common with smart devices, and seemingly everyday situations and small moments provide smart opinions.

The show’s content is based on Latvian folk song texts, new choreography, and contemporary music rooted in folk.

The show will balance the contemporary, traditional, entertaining, educational, and emotionally engaging. 23 new folk dances were created for this concert. The story will be danced by approximately 3,200 Latvian dancers from 160 dance groups (1st–12th grade).
