Costume Show: Radiance

Radiance: a visual and visual plastic art project on our calling to radiate light and joy, warmth and love. We radiate when we do good work, we radiate when our work is done and we can take pride in it. We radiate because we share our joy with you. We radiate when we are proud of our school, village, city, region. We radiate because we live in Latvia.

How do we radiate? Through the sun, by reflecting it in our works; we hold up everything that is dear to us to the light of the sun: Latvian values, family, Latvia.

The artworks have been created using many different materials: paper, fabric, glass, plastic, wood, clay, leather and other interesting materials, and they were made using various techniques: painting, drawing, sewing, treating wood, beading and others.

Clothing collections created by children and young people will radiate in the costume show, showing existing traditions and classic techniques in a new light. The children and young people will highlight themselves, their thoughts, their feelings. They will highlight our differences and similarities, our strengths and fears. They will highlight us in a new way.

The costume show will be staged as a “blank page”, so that the rays of each young person’s thoughts can sparkle and communicate with the viewer. A performative “show” will be created in a classicist interior, further emphasising the idea of highlighting traditions and canon from a different point of view.
