The Chestnut Hemisphere is a special choreographed performance created specially for the XIII Latvian School Youth Song Festival, which tells the story of a person’s path through this world, in a space which will be the entire world, with original music which will fill this space in time with sounds and moods.
Participants — dance groups from throughout Latvia — will dance together in a unified performance, highlighting the strengths of each group. Where are we going, and where do we come from? Maybe that’s our purpose: solving the riddle of why we’re here and what we have to achieve here? To create ourselves and our world, we have to encounter darkness and fight it. It will be a long, hopeless fight, but only until we realise that the fight is against ourselves, our own shadowy side. And, when we win, we can experience the world in all its colours; we can create our own story, because there is enough of everything in the world except YOUR story.
